Christmas is nearly upon us, and it's at the peak of gift-buying season. I love getting people Christmas gifts, but being a student means that I don't have a ton of money to spend on them. DIY gifts are more personable, anyway. What's more awesome than a completely one-of-a-kind gift? These ideas would be loved by most teen and tween girls, and they won't cost a fortune! Click on the pictures for links to the tutorials. :)
1. DIY Glittery Geodes
Who doesn't love geodes?!? They just exude rocky, glittery elegance. You can make them into necklaces, you can use them as paperweights, or you can just use them as room decor. All that's required for these is water, borax, food coloring, and some type of base for them to grow on. Pipe cleaners work well for that, and I've successfully used yarn.
2. Fabric Patterned Wall Letters
These are super easy to make, and don't cost a penny if you already have fabric and cardboard boxes lying around. You can do a lot with them by adding buttons, lace, or fabric flowers. They are also completely no-sew. You can also opt for hot-gluing fake flowers all over a cardboard letter to have a lovely flowery monogram. |
3. Decorative Pillows
What girl doesn't like room decor? These heart pillows are quite simple to sew, and would look lovely on any girl's bed. The strawberries are simpler than they look, and would be a truly "sweet" addition to any bedroom.
4. Fabric Covered Journal
These expensive-looking journals can be easily DIYed with a notebook and some fabric. There are so many options for how you can do this. You can sew a removable cover, you can fuse the fabric on, you can use spray adhesive, or you can use regular glue. I've covered quite a few composition notebooks with fabric, and they make such lovely journals. After attaching the fabric, there are so many options for embellishments! You can use lace, buttons, fake flowers, fabric flowers, beads - whatever you want!
5. Bath and Body Products
Who doesn't love to be pampered? These are fun and simple to make, and look fancy and expensive when finished. They cost a fraction of what store-bought products cost, and they're natural, too!
